Design portfolios are a challenge for a UX designer. Portfolios are great for showing the visual elements of a design, however the experience is more than the look and layout of an interface. The role of the designer is to envision ways technology can better facilitate our unique, individual, contextually specific experiences.
Designers attempts to direct appropriate experiences through considering the context and situation where the experience takes place, developing their designs within the given constraints of the project, and then working with the development team to provide rationale for evolving design decisions. A successful design project will lead to a pleasurable experience for the people interacting with the final design, leading to a stronger brand and customer loyalty.
A good designer develops a trained eye, always looking to see how things can be improved, able to see the small changes that can provide huge benefits. A great designer helps others do the same.
